Haigh Environmental is the exclusive UK distributor of the pioneering FujiClean wastewater treatment system.
Japanese company FujiClean is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of residential and commercial wastewater treatment systems, with impressive results from around the world - including more than 200 installations in the UK.
There are two FujiClean sewage treatment plant ranges available. The CEN model is designed to tackle nitrogen and ammonia, while the CRX and the CRXII additionally tackles phosphorus – all without the use of chemical dosing.
Whether you’re looking to replace an old septic tank, treat wastewater at your hotel, glamping site or farm, or for a municipal solution for a small village, FujiClean offers a cost-effective, standardised option.
The FujiClean technology is essentially a ‘treatment works in a box’ – the next generation of wastewater treatment.
Excellent results across all metrics
Phosphorus, ammonia, BOD and suspended solids/total nitrogen that meet consent limits.
No need for chemical dosing
FujiClean uses electro-coagulation, an advanced sewage treatment process where electricity removes contaminants.
Supports nutrient neutrality
Helping to secure planning permission in sensitive sites.
Real-world evidence from UK sites
Demonstrating FujiClean’s efficacy and adaptability across a range of use cases.
Low carbon footprint
The systems require very little electricity, reducing demand on networks and offering the opportunity to run off solar and wind power.
Lower maintenance requirements
Fewer checks and maintenance visits required than other alternatives on the market.
Easy to scale up or down
With the addition or removal of units to accommodate population growth or seasonal variations.
We have now installed more than 200 FujiClean plants, including in sensitive habitats such as the Lake District, and high-profile locations such as Chatsworth House.
Haigh Environmental started working with FujiClean in 2017, rapidly installing the first system in the UK at the National Trust’s Hardwick Estate in Derbyshire.
Since 2022, HEC has been especially proud to work with United Utilities, who are deploying FujiClean as a standard solution for smaller populations in rural areas. Five units have already been installed, with a total of 50 installations planned across this AMP cycle.

When Chris Reynolds needed to upgrade the sewage treatment system at his home and glamping site near Salisbury, he was keen to find a flexible solution that worked for his business needs and the environment.

FujiClean CRXII-10
Haigh Environmental supplied Chris with two FujiClean sewage treatment plants - the CRXII-5 and CRXII-10.
The Wiltshire business owner opted for FujiClean units because of their unique flexibility. Settings can be adjusted to handle wastewater according to different occupancy levels in their glamping pods, an approach that will also help accommodate the growth of the business without the need to install more units.
Meeting nutrient neutrality requirements was also a key consideration. To gain planning permission, any new phosphate from the glamping site needed to be completely offset. The FujiClean systems offer excellent phosphate removal without chemical dosing.
Chris said: "I’m happy to say that with the combination of the upgrade at the house and the new system for the glamping site, we are actually now phosphate-negative - which helped us secure planning permission without costly off-site offsets. It's better for us, and the beautiful environment we're situated in!"
